In the tradition of some American well-known jazz trios (think for example Goldings/Bernstein/Stewart), this trio added their last names together when they started playing together as music college buddies a few years ago. It shows what they stand for: making no-nonsense music, with a strong emphasis on the collective, as well as a lot of well-informed inspiration from the original American jazz tradition.
Pianist Milan Verbist was one of Klara’s De Twintigers in 2022, and together with Tristan Baars (bass) and Arne Lagatie (drums) he plays a repertoire of own compositions, with captivating and swinging interplay and references to various jazz piano greats like McCoy Tyner, Bill Evans, Barry Harris or Keith Jarrett.
